The Artist

Colin Egan (Clon) has always pursued his passion for illustrating and creating characters that make people smile. Inspired at a young age by the television series, Spongebob, Clon’s goal in life is to produce his own cartoon series.

With over ten years in the making, Clon has chipped closer to that goal every day, giving life to many original characters throughout his lifetime. Of all his creations, Blue Cat is most dear to his heart.

Before Blue Cat

Before Blue Cat, there were many characters Clon used to draw. Most of them were doodles on the side of his homework and others lived a longer run as stepping stones to learning new illustration techniques.

When Clon was in highschool, he started selling his illustrations as prints on t-shirts. His best-sellers showcased prints of cats. This was his start to becoming known as “The Cat Guy.”

Clon Created Blue Cat in 2013

In college, Clon kept sharpening his skills in illustration and character creation by challenging himself to 100 Days of Drawing. Each day, he drew a character with the challenge to not erase nor start over.

He learned to work through mistakes and not harp on perfection. On the third day, a cat was drawn. Without realizing it, this cat was to become his main character for the next 10 years.

The Catoonist

After finishing his 100 Days of Drawing challenge, it was clear that Clon’s cat character was the fan-favorite. On January 16th, 2015, Clon created “The Catoonist” on Instagram.

Hyper-focused on developing Blue Cat and making a name for himself in Atlanta, Georgia, Clon did everything he could to share Blue with others. From merch to festivals, drawing events to galleries and unique collaborations, his social following grew into the thousands.

Cool Cats

In 2018, Clon stopped posting on Instagram to pursue a career in motion graphics. In 2021, his close friend, Evan Luza (ELU), reached out for motion design work on a new project he was building.

When the project was determined not to launch, they decided to team up with Tom and Lynq, developers in the Web3 space, to start a new project using Blue Cat as the main character.

Cool Cats was born July 1st, 2021. Little did they know the collection was about to explode, shedding light on an entire community of inspiring creators.

Cooltopia NYC

In 2022, about one year after launching Cool Cats, Cooltopia debuted in NYC, showcasing the Cool Cats IP and inviting hundreds of thousands of visitors to explore the world of Cooltopia for the first time. This three-day interactive event was open to the New York public.

Following the massive success of Cooltopia NYC, Clon and the Cool Cats team have unlocked new avenues for sharing his loveable character with the world and putting Blue Cat in front of the eyes of millions.
